One of my favorite chicken Ramen in Amsterdam 【Vatten Ramen】

A Ramen restaurant near Amsterdam centraal

One of my favorite place in Amsterdam for chicken Ramens is “Vatten Ramen“.

I often go there when I have something to do near the train station in the center. I’ve been there already many times over, but to be honest, I didn’t think it was anything special at first. It is only after I had tried most of their menu that I found something that I truly like.

My favorite Ramen

My favorite Ramen on their menu is their “Vatten Ramen“. Starting with the soup, it consists of a chicken-based broth which, at first glance, looks very light. However, it is truly addictive as the taste of chicken is so rich, condensed and flavourful. Each time I have it, I feel like drinking up all the soup (which is something I don’t normally do). Moreover, it’s refreshing and light so I think most people can like it.

However, if you strictly only enjoy traditional Japanese Ramen style, you may find that one a bit unsatisfactory. It is indeed rather light compared to what you can find in Japan.

Onto the noodles, they are relatively thin, which matches well with the soup, and are easy to eat.

If you fancy a bit of spiciness, their Tantanmen is also recommended. However, don’t expect anything crazy spicy.

Side dishes

If you feel like having a side dish, they also provide some handmade gyozas. I have myself tried the vegetable ones and I was pleasantly surprised. If you are a big eater, you should have it as a stated or beside your Ramen !

The location

They are located downtown near Centraal Station. From the metro station, it should not take you more than 5 minutes walking.

If you are just one or two people, and if you arrive soon after opening, you may be able to get a table without reservation. However, the place is not so big and gets busy rapidly, so I recommend you make a booking !

There are also some seats with a nice view of the canal ! If you came as a tourist, you can have your Ramen while enjoy a pittoresque view of Amsterdam.

Recommended for …

I think it is a Ramen restaurant that a wide range of people might like. I’d recommend this place for everybody who is not a hardcore fan of the traditional Japanese Ramen style. Their Ramens are way less salty and heavy than a typical Japanese Ramen.
