Do you want to eat a restaurant quality Ramen at home?

Have you ever wanted to cook at home the kind of Ramen you would get at a restaurant ? I occasionally make Ramen at home, but it takes quite a while to boil the soup, make the noodles and prepare the garnish…

I have got some good news for those who want to enjoy Ramens at home, but find it too much of a hassle to make it from scratch ! Today, I bought a Ramen DIY kit at Ramen Sora, a popular Ramen shop in Amsterdam. They just started to sell it, so I’d like to introduce it to you!

What is Sapporo Ramen SORA ?

I wrote a blog about Ramen Sora restaurant a while ago. Click here for more details! Long story short, this is a popular Ramen restaurant in Amsterdam. There’s always a line, so be prepared if you go!

This time, they started selling Ramen DIY kits that enable you to easily enjoy Ramen Sora at home !

What kind of kit is it?

The contents include three types of Ramen (miso, soy sauce and salt) and three servings of noodles. It also comes instructions on how to boil the noodles and make the soup.

The sauce is included, but you have to make the broth yourself, so be careful!

But don’t worry! If you have some chicken bones, you can easily make it in about 30 minutes!

How to make a broth easily

The broth is very important when making Ramen, but with Sora’s new Ramen kit, the sauce contains already a lot of umami. Therefore, you can still make a delicious Ramen without having to prepare a very elaborated broth. Actually, I initially thought it could be made with only hot water, so I made the broth in a hurry, but the result was still nice.

I quickly took out the chicken bones I had in the freezer and simmered them in hot water for about 30 minutes. I would recommend to start at high heat, then once it boils, turn the heat down to medium to prevent it from reducing too much. If you like, you can also add garlic or the green parts of a green onion to enhance the flavour.

How to make Ramen

Once the broth is prepared, it’s then time to prepare the toppings!

I didn’t have time to make chashu and boiled eggs, so I simply used green onions!

It’s easy as there are instructions on how to make it! Next, just boil the noodles!

You can just boil it normally in a pot, but if you have a boiler like this, it will be easier to drain the water! Before the noodles are boiled, add the sauce to the bowl. Just before the noodles are cooked, pour in the broth.

Once the broth is ready, add the noodles and it’s done!

The final results

I tried all three types of Ramen! All broths were made based on the same chicken bones. Everything was just as delicious as the restaurant! My favourite among them is the Miso one ! It had a rich flavour and a nice Miso aroma.

The Shio Ramen was simple, but had a deep flavour and was delicious without being too light. The soy sauce Ramen had a nice dark colour and tasted like sweet soy sauce. To be honest, I enjoyed all three types.

How to purchase

You can order from Sora’s homepage and choose delivery or pick-up at the restaurant in De Pijp. I went to the restaurant to eat and then picked it up.
