Ramen at a Japanese quality Yakiniku in Amsterdam 【Wagyu KANATA】

Japanese quality Yakiniku in Amsterdam

In Europe, people don’t always have a culture of eating thinly sliced meat, and when they think of meat, they tend to think of steak and barbecues. But there are restaurant in Amsterdam where you can enjoy some Japanese-quality Yakiniku. (“Yakiniku” is a Japanese-style BBQ.)

It is called “WAGYU KANATA”

The store is located in the south of Amsterdam. It’s right in front of the tram station. It’s a little bit far from the city centre, but it’s in a convenient location.

The restaurant usually opens at 4pm, but it recently seems that they have started serving lunch on weekends as well. It’s always crowded, so I definitely recommend making a reservation.

About the menu

There are course menus ranging from 80 euros to 160 euros, but I always choose “à la carte“. If it’s your first time eating Yakiniku and you don’t know what you want to eat, I recommend the courses !

I would like to show you what I ordered when I went there last time. Let’s start with the appetizer. Personally, I like to eat vegetables before meat.

Next is the first round that I ordered. First, I ordered 3 types of meat and we got to grill it ourselves on the grid at the table. All photos are for 2 people.

After the first round, I ordered more meat, mostly beef tongue.

Next I ordered their Ramen as my main dish.

About their Ramen…

I already wrote a review of the Ramen on Instagram, so you can check it here below.

Wagyu Kanata’s Yakiniku is better than their Ramen.

It may be strange for me to say this, as I love Ramen so much, but I would recommend enjoying Yakiniku over Ramen there. Their Ramen is good, but Yakiniku is way more delicious. You can eat this kind of good Ramen in many places, but you can only eat there a good Yakiniku if you live in Amsterdam.

If you plan to drink alcohol there, the budget will be around 100 euros per person, which will fill you up. If you don’t drink alcohol, it’s going to be around 70 euros per person. Considering the quality, I would say it is rather decent.
