The best Ramen at home

Sadly, the chef has changed and the Tsukemen are no longer available anymore.(2024)

You’ve always wanted to eat some nice Ramen at home right ? This is my favourite online shopping Ramen. It’s super easy to make as it arrives precooked, you just need to boil the noodles and enjoy.

Why Ordering Online ?

I really love Tsukemen, but sadly there is no place in Amsterdam that serves authentic Tsukemen. As I really missed it, I figured I could try to get some online . After trying a few online shops, I can say that this one is my favourite so far and I have been buying their Tsukemen for two years already. They had stopped selling it for a while, but recently announced they are back with their Tsukemen !

The Tsukemen kit

I ordered it the 4th of July and it arrived the 12th. Keep in mind they always send it out on Tuesday. There is some shop postcard and instruction on how to cook it.

There were three ice packs inside and the package was done carefully. Let’s say this was true Japanese quality!!

This is a better look of the bonito flakes.

How is it?

I already ate one just a day after it arrived. I wanted to cook some eggs and Chachu, but didn’t have time for that. But even without toppings, it is still super nice and you can definitely enjoy it.

The noodles are homemade using spelled wheat. They have a nice flavour and the spelled wheat is supposed to make them easier to digest. They are also highly hydrated, which gives them a nice texture . It indeed makes them nicely chewy, just the way Tsukemen noodled are supposed to be.

For the cooking, I am using some baskets!!

The soup is not too salty and contains a lot of umami. Despite being rather heavy, it still feels refreshing, probably because of the addition of Yuzu peels.  Moreover, the balance between sourness and richness is just right, plus you get some small pieces of Chashu floating in it!

How to cook it?

Don’t worry about that. You can cook it easily at home. All you need is a small pot to heat the soup and a middle pot to boil the noodles! You can easily make it in 15 minutes. If you like, you can add some green onions and eggs to make it even better.

How much is it ?

The total cost of my order (6 servings) was 75 euros including shipping fee.

To be specific, it is 10.5 euros per serving – 63 euros for 6 servings – plus a 10 euros shipping fee to Amsterdam. It’s not cheap, but definitely less than what you would pay at a restaurant as this kind of Tsukemen would probably cost you around 18 to 20 euros.

It is so far the best Tsukemen I have tried in Europe and I recommend it for everybody who loves Tsukemen or is keen to try.

Where can you find them ?

Jen Ramen is actually a restaurant in Erfurt (Germany). I have ordered from them many times over online, but I have yet never been to their physical location. If you go to Enfurt Germany, please visit the restaurant! I am sure you can eat some delicious Ramens there !

They also sell other type of ramens

Their House style Ramen (usually call “Iekei Ramen”) is also very delicious.
